Safety.
Besides the regular safety rules, in this experiment you
should be aware of the following:
- a hazardous nature of the liquids you study: methanol,
benzene
and CCl4
; they are volatile and could be harmful to you - don't
inhale
- after turning a vacuum pump off you should immedietly let
the air in it but disconnecting the pump from the vacuum
system
- if you leave a nitrogen trap open to atmosphere, it would
become a device for condensation of liquid oxygen - very
explosive substance, thus take the dewar with N2
of when the pump is not connected.
