a. Although the Chem 115-116 series is highly recommended for majors, an alternative 3 semester CHEM 111/112/217 sequence is also available for students who have weak prior chemistry training.

b. Students must take at least 20 credits of Emphasis area and Elective courses at the 300 or above level in order to meet the 55 hour >300 requirement. The Emphasis or Minor consists of a minimum of 18 credits, nine of which must be at the 300 level or above. Students choosing a Biological Emphasis area are suggested to complete BIOL 211G as an Elective. Select General Ed courses that will also meet the College of Arts and Sciences requirements.

c. One Emphasis or Elective course needs to be a 4 credit course to satisfy the 128 total credit hour requirement.

d. Students wth good math skills can meet this requirement and the CHEM Elective by completing the series of CHEM 433 and 434 instead of CHEM 431.

e. CHEM 422, 441, 452, 456, 466, 471(previously 421) and BCHE 341, or 395 would satisfy this requirement (excluding 310 and 442).
