a. Although the Chem 115-116 series is highly recommended for majors, an alternative sequence is CHEM 111/112/217 for students who have weak prior chemistry training.

b. CS110 or ME 160 or Ch E 151 recommended for most students. Those with strong interests in computers take CS 137 or 167.

c. Students must accumulate a minimum of 55 credit hours above the 300 level (called upper division courses). This course of study as shown guarantees 55 credit hours above 300 level if the Biology Elective, the Chemistry Elective, and the Viewing a Wider World elective listed in the Spring of the Fourth Year (marked by c) are all taken with courses numbered 300 or above.

d. Taking this courseseries would satisfy the requirements of an American Chemical Society-approved degree in biochemistry
This course of study as presented also guarantees the accumulation of 128 total credit hours which is the minimum number of hours required to graduate.

An academic minor degree consists of a minimum of 18 credit hours accumulated in a specific degree program, nine of which must be at the 300 level or above.

This degree includes 43 hrs of Biochem/Chem, 55 hrs above 300-level courses, and 84 hrs of combined science and mathematics courses.
