Our research interest lies in the area of boron hydrides chemistry. Our current effort is in the area of synthesis and characterization of nonocarbon and dicarbacarboranes which contain amino acid residues covalently bonded to the carborane cage. Our primary focus is in the synthesis of these type of molecules for their use in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). We are trying to understand the chemistry of these molecules in order to design rational and efficient synthetic pathways for their production. We rely heavily on multinuclear magnetic resonance (1H, 11B, and 13C) for the characterization of these compounds.
