Controls for Wavelength and Digital Burner

Wavelength control counter is in the upper left front panel.

It consists for a WAVELENGTH Counter to indicated the wavelength setting of the monochromator in nanometers (nm). There are Coarse/Fine Wavelength adjustment knobs. These manually change the wavelength settings of the monochromator.

The SLIT Control is used to select a spectral slit width for the monochromator. There are four NORMAL slit width settings (0.07, 0.2, 0.7, and 2.0 nm) used for flame analysis. Three alternate slit widths settings are used for the HGA Graphite Furnace or for the operation of other devices.

Wavelength Drive ON/OFF switch turns on the automatic wavelength drive accessory.

Wavelength Drive FAST/SLOW switch selects either a FAST (5 nm/min) or SLOW (1 nm/min) scanning speed.

Controls for the Digital-Readout Burner Control

Burner ControlThere are three sets of burner controls. The first selects the fuel, oxidizer system and allows the gas to be turn on or off. The second shows the interlock indicators and the third shows the flow rates for the fuel and oxidizer with adjustable controls to fine tune the flows.

Burner-Control Unit

 Air/C2H2

Selects AIR oxidant and acetylene (C2H2) fuel operation the indicator to the left of the key lights.

 N2O/C2H2

Selects nitrous oxide (N2O) oxidant and C2H2 fuel

 CHK OXID

Press to display and adjust oxidizer flow settings prior flame ignition. Does not function once flame is ignited.

 CHK Fuel

Press to display and adjust fuel flow settings prior flame ignition. Does not function once flame is ignited.

 OverRide

Press to override the optical flame sensor. It also defeats the flow checking functions. Not recommended.

Flame ON/OFF

Switch to safely turn flame on/off

Function of Interlock Indicators
FLAME Indicator Indicator is on when the flame is burning
AIR Head Indicator Indicator is on only if the air burner head is in place
N2O Head Indicator Indicator is on only if the nitrous oxide burner head is in place
DRAIN Indicator Indicator is only if connected and if there is water in the trap
